Hi guys,

Anyone used Google Desktop for Mac? I used it on WinXP way back when, and it worked great. Spotlight does the same (from what I have used it for). Any comparative comments from anyone?

Nope - cant see the point of it. As it is I rarely use spotlight but instead rely upon the power of the mighty quicksilver. :)

I must still familiarise myself with this whole quicksilver business

As per our resident mod's instructions, I am now using QuickSilver. I have a question though:

In the catalog, all my drives are listed under devices, but I am struggling to find any of my files (only return bookmarks from FireFox). Do I have to add the drives under custom, and set the depth to infinity, or how must I do this?

Yes you are. :)

I've just tested it and it seems you need to drag the drives into the Catalogue. From there deselect the bits you dont want it to bother with and set it to infinity so it drills deep. You may want to play with the rescan settings.

I have my working files on a separate disk image so I've added that to it instead of the whole hard drive.

Hmm, thought I would have to do that ...

Otherwise, I am hooked :D in one day!
finding Apps using QS is just so cool!

:D The guy from 43folders.com writes a lot about it.

I thought having the infinite drill down on the drives would be VERY slow ... built the catalog for about 44 000 files in under 2 minutes ... and searching over the catalog is instant!

Dont forget the clipboard and shelf - very handy too.

adsl3g ... definitely do it ... Never quite understood what bwana was on about, until I read the "What is Quicksilver" guide ...

There's a guide

Where? :o

From the Quicksilver menu icon, click on Guide :p
That? Oh - major anticlimax. :p

Merlin Mann from 43folders talks about obscure but really useful features all the time on MBW.

Only just discovered location switching via Quicksilver :o
