Google DNS

I don't see how using as different dns server could possibly make any difference to download speeds. After an initial dns lookup is done when the download is started then after that the download has nothing to do with a dns server. Google dns being oversees based makes the latency a lot worse than a local dns server therefore doing dns lookups for when going to a web site or starting a download will actually take quite a lot longer. 350ms (getting close to half a second) compared to 7ms for a local isp server.

I don't see how using another DNS provider would increase your download speed... especially when it comes to torrents, since the peers exchange their IP addresses and not domain names.

The advantage of using Google DNS over OpenDNS would be that Google DNS's addresses are way easier to remember :)
