Imagine the level of wokeness of someone finding this offensive. Can someone please help me understand why springbok (national animal) with a background in colours of the national flag is considered offensive? Tweet from Google:

@googleafrica: We understand our #GoogleDoodle for South Africa’s Freedom Day offended some people. We should have done better and are deeply sorry. We've taken down the Doodle. Happy Freedom Day!

It's not there anymore, but not sure what evidence there is that it was taken down because someone was offended.

I wonder if people are upset because of the Springbok or because of the reddish/orange colour on top and blue at the bottom, like the old SA flag.

It's a bit of a lazy doodle though from them though, don't particularly like it from a design point of view - the last two years were nicer IMO:

Google can also go suck it for being so apologetic.

No you morons - this is exactly the point: People will moan about everything. How you can run the internet and still not understand this is beyond me.

Google is whipped, no backbone.

Not sure what they are affraid of, are the people whom complained going to stop using google?

Unlikely.
