Hi guys

Just a quick question. How long does it normally take for you site to index?

Logging into webmaster tools its been a few days now.
 
Could be that there is something wrong here then, few days? Thats a bit long.
 
Suppose a lot could go wrong, i know payperclick well and thats immediate when you make a change. Are u using google, i worked on overture so dunno, but it should be faster.

Lookup speed
How quickly a word can be found in the inverted index. The speed of finding an entry in a data structure, compared with how quickly it can be updated or removed, is a central focus of computer science.
Maintenance
How the index is maintained over time[6].
Fault tolerance

I appreciate your response. Whilst researching I came across similar infomation as what you just entered. I changed my sitemap and reindexed.

That listed the contact section only of my webpage thru any google search. Needless to say my sitemap is verified and there are no warnings. It just lists, waiting to be indexed..

Lets give it until monday. I will pm the link. Too shy to put my website here :p

Hey Peon,

You sure the website hasn't already started being indexed? If you search google for: site:yoursite.co.za does it show anything? Depending on how big the site is, it will take a while for google to crawl all the pages. The information in the webmasters section of google can also take a while to update, depending on the crawl rate.

Overnight sitemap also got indexed. My site is very small. 6 links,css and nothing else really. Currently only 3 pages from the site map are indexed. I presume the remaining will be indexed later.

The googlebots see my keywords, yet when I search them they do not show. Once again I presume because it isint finished indexing my site.

Getting back to what Hoogs mentioned of how google actually works. Surely I could speed up the process by linking or referencing my site at other sites that are frequently updated.
