Google launches new Glass AR headset

When the first version was announced I thought the idea was cool but couldn't see an everyday use case for it. I still can't see it.

I can imagine niche uses but not widespread. I think I read a few years back that at the time Amazon was using it in their warehouses for some purpose. Might come in handy for media people to get messages whilst on air, and for politicians reading speeches. I don't think it would be safe to use whilst driving though, so meh.

But I suppose that is why this is a business version, for use in specific industries.

We've all forgotten about Glass... I guess some clients haven't. I wonder what the cost will be for this model.

This is largely (for me at least), one of the big reasons I wouldn't be jumping on "new" products from Google from an Enterprise point of view, they have an atrocious track record of just discontinuing products willy nilly.

If I had an enterprise AR requirement, I would rather spend more money and invest in the HoloLens route from Microsoft... it looks more mature and well rounded, and MS don't generally just discontinue products at short notice.

Nice for technical training, pilots etc. Lots of business applications.

I don't see many consumer applications for this, it will die just like 3D TV's did..
