Google Nest Thermostat

I don't much about this thing - but can it even be used locally at all without central heating and cooling ?

I can get one cheap, but even being cheap I'd like to see if there is a use .. even something as simply as heater on / off ?
Does it even have a temperature sensor ?

Oh - I see it inegrates into Sonoff and can be used as a trigger.

So it does have sensors on board, and can detect whether anyone home ...

Only thing is though that pretty much none of the Google stuff is officially supported in SA, I really wanted the Nest Hello - but not paying through my rear for something that may not work properly.

I've seen a few people use nest stuff in unsupported countries, but then they've had to register with fake addresses and things to get as much functionality as possible. That's my biggest annoyance with Google, there is a massive dependency on your region for what functionality is deployed.

My Google Home I have to flip to different regions to access certain parts of the menu and then flip back again...

Ok - I downloaded the Nest app and yea, can't put an African address into it ... :/

Do you know what 'we' could sell this for then ?

I was going to buy it - but as I can't, neighbor wants to me to advertise it for him
