Google Nexus 10 previewed before announcement, loved

Google's upcoming Nexus 10 slate has leaked out in live photos, confirming previous rumors for the Samsung made tablet. Set to be officially unveiled on Monday, the device packs impressive specifications, headed by a stunning 10.1" display with a iPad beating resolution of 2560x1600 pixels and a pixel density of 298.9ppi.

The Google Nexus 10 will feature a brand new dual-core Samsung Exynos 5250 chipset, whose Cortex-A15 cores run at 1.7GHz. The new silicon is reportedly faring better in benchmark scores than the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro and Apple's custom A6, but we got no actual scores confirming that.

The Mali -T604 GPU is also brand new - it should be able to handle the massive amount of pixels with ease. Two gigs of RAM, 16GB of non-expandable built-in memory (other options will likely be available), 5MP camera (you can check out its samples here) with front-facing companion, and full connectivity
suite are also on board.

The back of the slate appears to be made of metal, while the dual-speakers at its front remind us of its Samsung roots. The tablet is said to be remarkably thin for its size.

The Google Nexus 10 will launch with Android 4.2, which will still go by the name Jelly Bean, but will bring a number of improvements to the OS. The more notable ones include improved camera UI, and connectivity toggles in the notification area.

I wonder how well that gpu is going to handle gaming. My desktop 6950 struggles with a 2560 resolution. But it will look amazing in apps and general use.

Google Nexus 10 shown on video, new lockscreen demoed

The Samsung-made Google Nexus 10 tablet managed to get itself caught on camera yet again, after its video appeared the other day. The video is very short but does, briefly, show the new lockscreen layout and takes a quick look at the homescreen.

Sadly the video itself isn't properly set up so we can't have a good lock at the screen but perhaps the previously leaked photos can be of some help.

The Google Nexus 10 will sport a 10.1" display of 2560 x 1600 resolution, which amounts to the impressive 299 pixels per inch and even outdoes Apple's iPad's "Retina". Under the hood the Nexus 10 will be driven by a dual-core Exynos 5250 SoC with two Cortex-A15 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz and the potent Mali-T604 graphics processor.

The Nexus 10 was supposed to make an appearance tomorrow at Google's New York event but sadly it has been postponed due to Hurricane Sandy.

They have the hardware down and they have for a while now its time to focus on the software... Android NEEDS a full office suite like Libre or Microsoft, android NEEDS proper USB support for mass storage, keyboard, mouse and most importantly PRINTERS.

If they don't get this right people will buy Windows 8 tabs to get things done on the go.

Not really. Vendors have been giving Android tablets pretty short thrift hardware-wise actually. They're just not making enough profit to justify going all out on devices. There still isn't a fHD Samsung tablet for instance. That's why Google had to draw a line in the sand with the Nexus7 on build quality.

Android needs a lot of things... tablet support is shoddy at best.

Yeah, I wonder if it isn't going to happen in any case. In phones Android is great; in tablets WinRT is most probably going to take up the slack and provide real competition for iPad. I have to admit WinRT looks really nice.
