Google Nexus 4 - Typing very laggy

Hi Guys, I aquired the Google nexus 4 recently, currently on Android 5.01. Whenever I type messagesm wheter it be in a SMS or Whatsapp, I find the kryboard to be very "laggy", for lack od a better term. Is there an alternative that I can download or a hidden setting that I am missing that can speed it up. I often find that I have to wait for the letters to pop onto the screen . it's really a pain.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Which keyboard are you currently using?

Downloaded the swiftkey keyboard, way better.

Yeah, was going to suggest that perhaps Google Keyboard is the issue. I also experience lag when using it at times.
