Google Nexus 7 Screen Repair

Hi Guys,

I just cracked my screen - now it's unresponsive, I can't use the phone at all. I called PartServe (ASUS SAs' official repairs and service partner) for some quotation. For the LCD only they quoted me R1,800 excl VAT! Then you will add labour (installation). This is likely to be in the region pf at least R2,500! Not worth it for a Nexus 7 (2012, 32gb, 3G), one would rather invest in a new version (2013) instead.

Browsing online one can get the entire LCD kit on eBay for between R500-R800. But still I will need to book it in for installation.

Any advice on this, other viable options? Or should I just start saving for a new one? The device is in great condition - what am I gonna do with it?

A friend of mine also cracked the screen on his Nexus 7. Bought a new screen from Ebay for less than R1000 and replaced it himself. Plenty of Youtube videos how to do this. Its not that hard, Just be careful.

I do all my cellphone repairs at SSS cellular. They based in Benoni . I have done a lot of phones through them and I am very satisfied...

Thanks for all feedback guys, I did order the screen on eBay. Due to that SAPO strike it only arrived last week and I had it installed for R450. It's working very well now.
