Google will sell the online services of other business software makers in an effort to fill its own product gaps and persuade more companies to rely on applications piped over the Internet.

I stand to be corrected but Google Apps had over a million companies using it a couple of months ago. This is a huge potential market with scope for recurring income. I think such programmes give smaller companies a chance to market a product to a large group of companies very quickly.
