This looks like it might be a nicer dialer app than the standard Samsung one, but it says incompatible with device. Are we not allowed to use this in South Africa or is it only for Google devices like the Pixels or Android One devices like Nokia? :(

The last one.

I am able to run it on my Realme x2 Pro. Might be a Samsung limitation.

It's a Samsung thing, most likely.. it was the default phone app on my Nokia 8 and it works on my LG g8x..

Nee wag boeties... That app is only intended for Google Devices like the Pixel, etc.
But you can sideload it here:

Yes, but I got the same response from Google Play that my OP6 is not compatible.

If I go search for it in Google Play on my phone, there is no Google Dialer.
Only phoney phone apps

Never got that prompt.. LG and Nokia are more pure android than some of the other devices and likely why it is supported..

Well, I know that Nokia's builds are very close to AOSP builds.
I wonder if LineageOS is part of the compat list of Google Dialer/Phone...
Most of Nokia devices are Google one devices, those are AOSP.

lineage probably is, they are AOSP++.

Got my eyes on a oneplus

I downloaded the APK from APK mirror and got it installed. Works fine and it is nice that you can search for a business and it just comes up with the number. Dont have to google search in the browser first or anything. Only thing that is annoying is the volume of when you dial a number on the keypad, and you cant seem to turn it down.

I'm able to use it on my LG V40, but when I receive a call from my contacts, it shows MY phone number, and not theirs. It's annoying, because I already know my own number, I want to see which number my contact is calling from.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Nope. Shows the callers number.
