I have 2TB storage with Google Photos and I’ve set to original size backup.

Does this mean the photo below (17MB) should back up to 17MB? Why is it under 7MB?

I’ve also got a few photos that are duplicates and using the example below, all duplicates are 17 MB - but the backup varies between 3 and 7MB.

Sound right?

You set the backup quality. You can have it backup the original size and quality, or set it to compress photos to save space.

Also, if you're for a way to get unlimited Google storage for free I can enlighten you.

Please do tell!
It's not ideal, if I had the funds to blow on cloud space I'd probably pay for it.
But the broke man's hack is; you get 15gb free storage on an account without paying. So just create multiple Google accounts.
I have like 40 Google accounts, namebackup1@gmail
namebackup2@gmail
And so on...

Side note; I find it annoying that I don't have a perfect chronologically-named system. Some of my namebackup numbers were already in use.

But I have the backup as original - but it says it’s still lower than the image itself

This doesn't make sense.

Both at 3.4MP and backed up at orginial quality with different sizes.

I'd guess I should delete the smaller one ?

Backs from iOS seems smaller ... AND they shouldn't be there

@SauRoNZA do you use iCloud and Google Photos?

If so, how? Specifically with regards to syncing, backup & duplicates

I do but I only use Storage Saver so can’t really compare.

What confuses me there is that it says it was taken with a HUAWEI but it’s uploaded from an iOS device?

Oh also jpg compression, remember it's a compressed picture, it could be that the iOS device has done a different type of compression on the image?

Could've been whatsapped to an iOS device

Did you by chance send it via Whatsapp to anyone? Could be the whatsapped image. Also the second one is uploaded by an iOS device?

I think WhatsApp renames the image and adds WA in the name somewhere.

I think what I tried to do was to use both iCloud & Google Photos at the same time .

So if I recall, I created the albums in Google Photos and and then somehow synced them to iOS or iCloud ... and then it seems to have uploaded them again. I dunno.

But it something to that affect and I'm just trying to get everything normal now
