Google Picasa goes into retirement

Does someone have an alternative quick way of viewing files?

I really liked the fact I could double click, it would quickly open ... and the scroll wheel would cycle through the photos. I've tried the odd photo software around here and they either have a splashscreen / or the wheel zooms in and out.

Nothing is as fast as Google - they should have kept it!

XnView is excellent. You can change the settings to use your mouse wheel to go to next/previous photo.

You still stressing over this? I really don't understand what people have against the windows photo app.

Well, it doesn't scroll with the wheel and doesn't edit ?

Almost like recommending a motorbike when I'm asking which car is better ?

Actually took some bad photos with a digital camera once. Wildlife shots, sitting in a Land Rover at dusk in the middle of a herd of buffalo. A bit of tweaking/contrast etc on XNView, nobody would say ... :)
 
I know this thread is a bit old, but so am i :D but Picasa was a very user friendly system and worked well.
I have tried and forced myself to use google photos, but its a very cumbersome and awkward system to get around compared
to the simplicity of picaso...i do kow picaso is history, no updates, but i still use it to do some tweaks here and there
 
Apart from Google pictures, what other free options are there for Picasa user's
 
So i had to make a change from Picasa, Picasa didnt upload to google photos anymore, although you can still email your pics and do some light editing. Its not a professional package but it was free and served it purpose.
No updates, kaput. GOOGLE photos is a bit complicated at first, but eventually you can get the hang of it, BUT you cant email your pics direct the way Picasa did. This was the important part for me as i need this service. There is a way but its too much stuff going on there and not really that convenient.
So i found a free program, FastStone Image viewer . This at the moment does the trick, well so far anyway, you can edit ( limitations) watermark, it has a Raw processing function and seems quite simple to operate.
So at the moment i am going with this program and see how it goes.

must be the most underrated Win app - been using it for years.
