Ok, so I updated my Sony Xperia V yesterday afternoon (with the official updates, to Android 4.3)

At the same time, I though it would be a good idea to update my Galaxy TAB2 10.1 P5100 as well (This being as custom ROM to Android 4.2.2 KK, as my Galaxy i9000 has been more responsive on 4.2.2 for quite some time)

However, I've not been able to complete the updates as Google Play Store states "No Connection" - Retry - regardless of how many times I re-try, no excluding the multitude of "workarounds" listed on the net that I have also tried... with this now being relevant to all three devices.

Has anyone else been through this hellish situation lately ?

I have the same problem on my S2 but only with 3G. All is fine though when I connect with wifi. It's my son's old phone. It was fine until he reset it to manufacturer's default. Since then I have the same problem, but only on 3G as I have already said.

The wrong Access Point setting is usually the culprit. OP, to what is your access point set?

Flash the appropriate GAPPS for your Android version. Shouldn't be required with official updates, but definitely needed for the custom ROMs, and might resolve the official ROM issue as well...

This. With Cell C I find that you generally have to remove the proxy. Even if normal browsing is fine.

Could you elaborate please, as I can browse the net and retrieve/send mail without issues ...

I flashed the original stock ROM ... No difference.

Then flashed the latest SlimROM with GAPPS ... No difference.

By accident came across MoboGenie, which allowed me to install APPS. (Not the solution, though I can now at least use the device)
