Google SA picks fight

From FAQs on http://www.compcom.co.za

In order to make a case against a firm for abuse of dominance, the Commission must first show that the firm is dominant. In terms of Section 7 of the Act, a firm is dominant in a market if it has

* at least 45% of that market;
* at least 35%, but less than 45% of that market, unless it can show that it does not have a market power; or
* less than 35% of that market, but has a market power.

A firm that is dominant may not pursue the following practices:

* charge excessive prices;
* refuse access to an essential facility;
* engage in exclusionary acts, such as requiring or inducing a supplier or customer not to deal with a competitor; refusing to supply scarce goods to a competitor; tying sales or purchases or making them conditional; or buying up scarce resources required by a competitor.
* engage in price discrimination if it prevents or lessens competition; involves the equivalent sale of goods and services of like grade and quality to different customers ; or involves discrimination between customers in terms of price, discounts, allowances, rebates, credit, the payment for and the provision of goods and services.

Mmmn wonder what Googles charges Telkom for a click. If we all do our part and click a link to telkom @ R2 lets 1000 times x1000 people daily thats R2mil for Telkom. Hehe
A click-bomb campaign would unfortunately mean Telkom will get their ads for free and the Adsense publishers could get their accounts suspended. You'd actually be doing Telkom a favour :eek:
