Google sync via BIS

Anybody else here use Google Sync for their calendars?
Just noticed today that it doesn't use BIS (though I'm certain it did when I started using it months ago).
APN is enabled as blackberry.net and there are no network options in the app itself.
Anyone have any ideas how to force it to use BIS?

I thought it did, perhaps try uninstalling and reinstalling it?
