Does this work on MAC computers, or do i need iChat?

I don't think they have a OS X client, but you can use ichat or adium to connect to their servers.

AFAIK there is no Google Talk application for OsX but it works really well though iChat. Otherwise take your pick - http://www.google.com/talk/otherclients.html

BTW - mac to mac nothing I've come across beats iChat for video/audio quality.

Because I have sadists for an IT department the only way I can IM is through Gtalk inside the Gmail window.
Very annoying, Gtalk rocks though
