Google to launch Pixel 2 – Report

Does anyone actually use the waterproof functionality?

How many of you actually require this?

Spillage is a real thing. I'd like a waterproof Pixel- but at this stage, I'll take a Pixel 1 as well.

Standard connectivity (usb, headphones etc) > waterproofing.
Otherwise I have no problem with it.

The report stated that the improved Pixel 2 will have “at least a $50 price increase” compared to the original Pixel – which retails for $649 in the US.

It obviously depends on the spec of the device and if it all works fluidly, but that isn't too bad a price for a high end device.

Yes,I don't have to fear putting my phone on the table because if somebody clumsy tips over a drink then it will die.
Also I actually wash my s7 edge with soap and water once in a while, keeps it nice and clean no fingerprints ever.

There are a number of other instances where I found it handy.

UAG cover you need to spill 4cm of depth before I worry.

My Glasses have a little spray and cloth so also no fingerprints ever.

LOL. Until the day someone happens to spill that drink right on top of your phone.

Look, it's a cool feature to have, and given the choice, I for one would pick a phone if it was waterproof. There are other features I value more though, so it's hardly a deal breaker.

+1

Loved the waterproof on the Sony for the reasons above. I'd obviously treat it like a 'standard' phone and not dip it underwater - but was great when going out.

Lost the Sony and they were out of stock of new models, so I got the P9. Not too bad a phone, but miss both the waterproofing and battery on the Sony.
