Google to redirect ccTLDs pages to Google.com

Google has announced that it is starting to redirect people who use its country-specific domains, such as Google.co.za, to its main Google.com portal.

Google said the change would be rolling out gradually over several months. It did not say when specific domains would begin redirecting.

It was just easier to use google.com
And that is the default landing page for many browsers anyway.

Well, you will certainly be in for a shock when you come to realize Google is actually NOT letting go of the domain...

I never type either explicitly, I just type my search terms into the browser text box thingy or my phone's Google search box on the home screen.

Translation:
With cookies, search history and location information, we know exactly who you are and what country you live in. We no longer need ccTLDs to customise our/your results (and advertisments)...

I used the South African search feature in google.co.za where you could filter South African websites only alot. I am now just redirected to google.com with no option to narrow the search to SA websites. Does anyone have any advice on how to narrow the search to SA websites now?

So, its been 8 months, and although google.co.za redirects to google.com. The didnt earn it hires at Google failed to do the same for the entire URL and thus you can still use https://www.google.co.za/index.html perfectly fine
