Is it still worth getting if the price is right?

I know the Hero 3 is due to launch, or has, but is the HD Hero still worth getting your hands on. The 5MP stills are not ideal but it does film at 1080p.

You using it for surfing? If so then the 720P@ 60 frames function on the Hero2 is a must have in my opinion... surfing doesn't look that good at full speed and the camera jumps around like crazy. But slow it down a bit and it looks awesome. My 2c...

Thanks, Grey. It'll be used for surfing, mountain biking and anything else where a camera could take a beating.

Incredible has an offer on the HD Hero Naked for R999... very tempting although research obviously shows the HD2 and upcoming HD3 to be superior.

According to DigitalRev, the 'twice as powerful' functionality of the Hero3 is actually pretty abysmal, and the main feature you're getting by buying it over the Hero2 is actually just the wireless remote capability.
Which has an up to four second delay before updating the picture.
Oh, it also still crashes requiring you pop open the case and remove the battery, just like the Hero2 did.

That is tempting.. but like I say it's the slo-mo you want, it's what makes the hero3 black edition so desirable... 720p@120 frames is insane for filming surfing or anything fast paced.

Did you buy it?

For R1K its so worth it. The Naked is discontinued and thats why they are clearing them but other places still retail them for R3K. I just felt at R1K its great for my first GoPro and I can always use it.

The plus point is GoPro accessories are compatible across most of the range so you don't sit in a situation where you buy some nice add-ons only to have an Apple pulled on you and now need to buy it all over again.
