just like the time-lost-proto drake (apparently) that I cannot get!

That stupid 'dragon' is a myth... I've seen its other 2 spawns (the blue dragon and gnome that share the same cooldown timer) but not it :(

Yeah, I've only seen the one cousin (V something if I'm not wrong), but do not personally know anybody that's got that stupid thing. I think your chances will be better to get the Pheonix from TK.

Elemental and Resto specs still need work/tweaking for pvp viability. Enhancement is ok, and getting better once they get Frozen Power. It's probably the best pvp spec now, good mobility, good damage, lots of utility. Squishiness hardly matters now that pvp is all about burst, and shamans sure can burst. I think for PVE, all specs are currently fine.

You can't be serious? Resto is the only viable PVP spec at the moment. If I remember correctly, there are only a couple of Ele shamans over 2200 and no Enh Shamans. All of the rest over 2200 are Resto.

I recently rolled a new Night Elf Hunter. Level 8 so far. I was just wondering, how do I get pets and what level i'm suppose to be to get one.

THANKS

You get the quest at level 10 from the 2nd quest hub in the first zone (first place you get a mailbox).

To all emerging hunters:

Petopia tells you all about the different kinds of pets, their talents, how to care for and feed them and where to find cool pets. It also has links to loads of other interesting hunter related sites. go go

I got the Time-Lost Proto Drake on my hunter Belkin on Executus after camping for over a week during the holidays. Just keep checking with people in the area to see if it had spawned and if they can help you.

As to your problem with that white ape. Persistance is the name of the game. Just keep going and don't let level stop you either since pets now automatically adjust themselves to around your current level.

Wait till 3.1 comes... I can see hundreds of hunters camping out waiting for Gondria to spawn. Gondria, for those that havent seen the screenshot is a new rare spawn spirit beast, but looks like the see-through spectral tiger mount.

Very very nice looking pet.

one word:

Thunderstomp

It's great for AOE farming large packs of mobs cause you will barely out-aggro it. It's getting changed in 3.1.0, so you better abuse it fast as it will then change to a talent.

searching Petopia I found this:

* Talent Tree: Tenacity
* Focus Dump: Smack
* Diet: Bread, Fungus, Fruit

Thunderstomp

Shakes the ground with thundering force, doing [rank] Nature damage to all enemies within 8 yards. This ability causes a moderate amount of additional threat.
20 Focus Melee Range
Instant 10 sec cooldown

Can Be Tamed:

* Uhk'loc (52-53 Rare, Un'Goro Crater)

Look in your pets spell book and see if he has this one, cause it is listed as having the spell. Also see if a pet trainer can teach it to him in one of the major cities.

Its in your spell book. You no longer have to train your pet abilities at the trainer. Just remember to switch off cower and ensure the growl ability is switched on. You will be amazed to see how good that gorilla handles multi-mobs. Ultimate farming tool. Once 3.1 comes out, all tanking pets will be getting that ability though. You will find its even possible to main tank 5 man instances with a gorilladin.

The current "gotta have" pet all hunters are dying to tame though is Loque'nahak. Its a spirit beast with a moonfire type of ability. Its very cool in the sense that it can attack from a range, where cats need to be on top of a target to attack it. Only problem is, its a rare spawn + everyone is out to kill it when they see it... thanks to those stupid achievements.

Gorillas are just OP, i got one at lvl 46 and its been easy sailing. The AOE is just Awesome :D get 5 mobs the same lvl as me (64) and just volley, multishot them till they die :p
All it does is put the game into easy mode

Imho Loque'nahak just isn't worth the grief of camping him. The Dot has such low damage and he does the same DPS as any other cat. Devilsaur or raptor are far superior if you are going to be going deep BM.

But yeah in 3.1.0 All Tenacity pets will be able to spec into Thunderstomp, thus making the bear with his Swipe and Thunderstomp the best AOE tanking pet in the game. he will have limitless aggro thanks to attacking multiple targets every few seconds and can take a pounding.

Agreed s7wede... Spirit beasts are not worth it now.. BUT next patch BM will be getting a boost and then those pets will be very viable raid pets.

Any hunter serious about dps still raiding in BM spec should get his head examined anyway, because after the great nerf of BM in the earlier patches everyone flocked to Survival since BM just did'nt make sense anymore.

I guess I need to get my head examined then :rolleyes:

For the min/max of hardcore raiding and PVP I can see why hunters might choose to respecc to deep surv or MM. But for a casual (note that I have got glory of the raider) such as me, I will stick with my devilsaur till the end. I waited 3 years to be able to tame him, and I will keep him for even longer.

You just need to find a guild that bases their raid setups on skill rather than cooky-cutter builds.
