Got a new Sony Xperia m

Note, my previous phone was a Samsung Galaxy S2 running jelly bean 4.1

Xperia M Specs:
s4 chip > dual core 1GHz kite processor > 305 gpu > 4" screen > android 4.1 out the box. > 1GB RAM > 1.5 GB usable internal app storage , (far more than what I need ) SD card slot.

Note. I had an option to go for the Samsung s3 mini but chose against it due the the AMOLED display which I've had ghosting, bottom screen lagging, blackouts and burnouts with on the S2 screen , I wanted my new phone to last as long as possible.

here is what I like and dislike:





Like :

*Fast and responsive like my s2 (really don't. need anything better)

*Large choice of themes.

*Smaller 4" display compared to my Samsung galaxy s2

*Phone looks amazing and noticeably excellent build quality equal to that of an iPhone 5S. Seriously, this phone feels as solid as a luxury Swiss watch.

*Multiple colour notification LED light which I can set red for missed call, green for messages, blue for email and white for what's app.

*The theme changes more than just the home and lock screen, such as the settings menu theme.

*wallpaper scrolling

*Stock gallery organizes my photos and videos buy time and date without me having to browse multiple gallerys. Was really annoying on the S2, can also play a presentation of your photos with the music and transesion effect of your choice.





Dislike ;

*keyboard, overall functionality is not great , I've already downloaded touchpal.

*camera isn't great but I don't mind much.

*No long. navigation key feature, eg if I hold down the options key on the s2 I open search in any app and home screen, I can't do it on the Xperia, which means that I'm constantly looking for the search feature in the apps settings.

*no short cut to settings key, similar to what was mentioned above , the key on the right bottom doesn't open settings but only. open apps (task switcher,killer )

*can't. put apps on SD card but I don't need to, but nevertheless , would be nice

*I miss having physical keys at the bottom like the s2.

*can't disable persistent update notifications from Sony, some updates require a computer.

Tried it, still trying it, I've disabled flow but how do I enable gestures, like on touchpal? Eg slide up get number or input word, slide down to input symbol, slide backspace to delete entire word.?

I'm kind of with Da lion here. For me, flow makes swiftkey. Once you're used to it, it's difficult to go back!

Don't get me wrong, the keyboard is great but I've never been a fan of flow concepts, I need to see where my finger lands, just a personal preference really.

I would definitely use swift key on a large screened device, it has amazing customisation such as the floating resizable keyboard, but considering that I wouldn't use flow, the gesture based touchpal is best for my writing style, granted it doesn't feel as good and feels a bit slow in comparison. It suits my typing style best, swipe up for numbers, swipe down for word completion and symbols, swipe backspace left to delete entire word. It also has a feature identical to flow if you were wondering.

Never the less, thank you for recommending swift key, it's definitely going to be my keyboard of choice for tablets.
