Got a Vodacom Lumia 1020

First phone to pass the R10K barrier as well. Not many people can afford that

Cost is obvious for a top of the range smart phone, but on contract it is the same or less than any other high end make

Battery is not at all bad.
over the weekend it seemed bad - because I was like a kid playing with it all day :D

Today was the first real workday.
Used it 5 or 6 times for calls.
Showed off to colleagues :twisted:

on LTE; WiFi on, Bluetooth on

Time since last charge: 15 hours
Estimated time left: 5 hours
30% Remaining battery life.

My camera grip arrived today.
Bought it on Orange - import from UK.
Pity accessories are scarce in SA.
 
Can you please tell us what the model number of the phone is.
Rm875, 876 or 877. And does LTE work?

According to the nokia website they are selling the version that will only work on CellC's LTE Network.
GSM and UMTS are fine.
 
I was given an iPhone 5 as a gift but I would have considered a Lumia 1020 or a BB Z/Q instead, had I been given a choice. One of the reasons the iPhone was bought instead of a Lumia, is because the family member believed that Lumia 1020's and 920's lag, crash often and are unreliable. I recently spent a few minutes on a Lumia 1020 and it really did impress me, but that isn't enough to comment on its build quality, functionality and compliance as a daily companion.

Correct me if I am wrong but I understand that it does not support Nokia Suite. Even if it does not, there is a paid app called Companionlink which is quite nice as it does all one needs it to.

I would love to hear from real users about their Lumia 1020 experiences. :)

I don't have a 1020, but I do have a 925 and 620.

Neither of them have crashed, lagged or had any issues since I got them. The 620 I got in March last year and the 925 in October.

I have had a Lumia 1020 for 2 months now and it is AWESOME!!!!!!!

Words do a bad job to describe how amazing the camera is, but its not just the camera.

The whole package is good - build, OS , ease of use, battery life - everything.

Too many journalists talked about the camera and never got to the phone itself. Good to hear that battery life is good as that always is a concern. Our power failed on Sunday, as it many times had done either at night or on public holidays, in a suburb with several 5-star hotels and guest lodges of note. Then we need to go out and find a restaurant or a hotel foyer away from here, where we can charge our phones. And my iPhone 5 is a battery hog.

I like WP8 OS as much as I hate its desktop daddy. It is super secure and has none of the vulnerabilities Android and iOS are known for. If it is stable, then it can only be good.

It must be lovely to have MS Office on the phone as well? I am a Linux fan but no office suite comes near MS.
