Got it... Countries, regions, towns list

Saw a few threads of people asking for a list of towns and regions.

I created a few csv files the list all the countries with there towns and regions.

You can download the files here

I got the data from GeoMapNet.

Nice work; though I can only find about 58 cities for South Africa in the cities.csv file? Nice that it has some Geo info as well though.

Yeah, I think most of the smaller towns aren't listed. And also no suburbs. When I get time I'll try to fill in the rest. This is just how it came from GeoMapNet

I've only seen this now... but have you thought of querying the OpenStreetMap database?

The list there is going to be extensive and for the most part accurate (including countries, towns and suburbs).

I had a look, but couldn't find where to query it. Have you tried it before?
