Are there any known Issues with DNS when connecting to the Internet
Via GPRS

Not to sure if we're answering the question :)

There are a few things to consider when using DNS over a high latency link such as GPRS, the most important one being potential timeouts, i.e. you might do a DNS request and find the first request times out. Subsequent requests will probably go through.

This can result in 404-type errors.

Increasing the local cache timers can help.

I had endless hassles with dns over a 6310i gprs connection. I don't know whether it was the phone or vodacom because had been through some rough times before. Perhaps a little of both.

Is it an intermittent problem or constant...
I've had 2 problems:
1: my laptop lost its APN setting out of the blue one day - and for quite a while it seemed to be the DNS cause i was allocated one by the DHCP but i couldn't ping it.
2: often the DNS server doesn't seem to respond for the first few moments of the connection - this is fine for pc dial-up: i just retry 10 seconds later and everything is fine. But when i'm doing stuff like email direct on the phone - it usually means a reconnect... :( and getting charged again...
