I noticed yesterday that I couldn't connect to the net, but it didn't bother me too much 'cos I just needed some quick info and reverted back to my contract (MTN) phone. I tried VM again this morning and still no luck.

The call centre says GPRS is down and they don't have an rough time for when the problem(s) will be sorted. However, the call centre is quick to answer (no more 10min+ like I have experienced at other SP  ) and very very friendly :) (either the staff is still very excited to work there, or someone has been spiking the coffee machine :D )

I knew this was going to be a bumpy ride in terms of stability, but I really do hope they get things sorted out soon and have a really stable system. The call centre leaves a nice bellyfeel. 50c/MB is really inticing as well.

PS: I love the call centre's "just in case you have a sexy voice" message to make you aware they're going to record the conversation

EDIT: Thanks Cell C Customer. Seems it may not be VM's fault. I hope the issue is sorted out soon.

Still down. Call centre still doesn't when anything may happen

Yay! Finally connected again...

It still took me 6 dialup attempts to get connected...
it makes me wonder if I need any other settings...
Apart from the AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","vdata" thing ?
Anyone know?

All is well in the land of oz CellC is up as is Virgin Mobile.

Signal strength 100% transfer speeds 28 - 69 KBps if using nokia d211 from cell phone 28- 48 KBps

What is the cell phone, what are you connecting with and there maybe a virus that attaches itself to dialup this internal or external modem and gprs.

Has anyone noticed that on VM/CellC Gprs that certain pages are not accessable, if I change to mtn I can download that page anyone had similar problems.

I'm using a Motorola V550 ... I don't think it's "smart" enough to get a virus ;)
And my PC runs Linux... so it's kind of unlikely there too... ;)

I just wish VM would fix the problem with the datacards ... (whatever it is)

I recall seeing a post regarding this problem in another thread somewhere...
I can't remember where though.. :o

Strange have not had that problem initially while setting up nokia d211 had problems and with PC suite for nokia 7610 because could not find network.

But with APN vdata all is well.

Just suggestions.:o

Well, as I'm using Linux, I'm not using Oxygen Manager ;) But I did update all my config files...
I think I'll try connect using my spare phone (Siemens ME45) and see how that works...
maybe the problem is just with my phone :o
