I saw a thread somewhere about GPRS roaming but it had no solution, so I would like to ask the powers that be at MTN how you have no (or very few) GPRS roaming agreements, according to your call centre I cannot get GPRS in the UK. ?? and what solutions can be offered ?

Yes you can: Simply force connect to "ORANGE" in the UK and it works 100%

Cost of data roaming

What does it cost when roaming in the UK for example? Do you pay your bunde costs i.e. R1/Mb or is there a premium you over an above the bundle cost?

Sweet - thanks dbnnet I shall try that, As far as I know cost wise its the MTN per MB cost as well as the roaming partners per MB cost as well.

just bear in mind UK data charges are in the order of 2 GBP per meg!

These are all correct. You can force to Orange and to T-Mobile. The prices are high in the UK and there is a mark-up by the UK operator, MTN and then the Service Provider to add.

Hmmm.
So, instead of passing traffic directly through their own GGSN, they route back to an MTN GGSN?

Most (if not all) operators route traffic from their own subscribers roaming on foreign networks back to their own GGSNs. This improves security (eg with authentication) and enables them to use their 'home' services (eg MTNLoaded) or their secure corporate services seamlessly.
