i have an imate sp3 phone and cant seem to get my gprs to work?? tired calling mtn and held on for 15 minutes with no joy (are they part of telkom lol)
any help is appreciated

Just a note from personal experience.

I had my contract sim card in my phone working perfectly on gprs.

On holiday, I needed as stack more Mb's, so I bought a prepaid sim card.

Even though the connection settings were all saved on my phone, it still wouldn't work with the new sim card.

Turns out that all sim cards are gprs 'blocked' and it is only when you request the settings to be sent to your phone that the sim card is unblocked. So requested the settings and just deleted them when they arrived.

To enable GPRS on MTN Network for the Sim card :

Dial *123#
Select Option to "Send Settings"
SIM will be UnBarred

Hi

There you are....

1. Go To Start, Settings (8), More (9), Data connections (2)
2. Press Menu, Edit Connections (1), GPRS Connections (4)
3. Press Menu, Add (1)
Description: MTN
Connects to: The Internet
Access point: internet
User name: leave blank
Password: leave blank
4. Press Done till you go to start menu

Then restart PDA and test

Regards,

Hi,

I've just gotten a Vodafone N70, basically to replace the crappy Motorola V3 which I was using.

I'm using my MTN sim card but just cannot get the N70 to connect to the web.

I went to the MTNLoaded site and got all the settings sent to me, but nothing has arrived within the last 30 minutes.

Can someone PLEASE help me setup my phone for data

EDIT -- Nevermind, I found my problem. The N70 is a vodaphone version and there was a setting which I missed and the phone was still trying to connect to vlive. I'm sorted now

Okay, I've gotten the settings sent to my phone but I'm still struggling. The phone can access the internet without problems.

My PC can access the internet only through the Nokia Software Suite.

My PDA just won't connect

With the V3 I could connect via bluetooth to the modem and by dialling *99# with no username or password, I would be connected. This works on both the PC and PDA

Now with the N70 if I try this, it starts making the connection and then hangs up.

How can I get the PDA especially to connect to the net via the N70. I'm not too fussed about the PC as that connects fine through the Nokia software, but I need access to the net while on the move.
