I have had GPRS burst speeds of up to UL 2.5Mb/s and DL 7.7Mb/s on my nokia 6260 through Netmeter. Though it only happens once every few months and only for a second, does that mean that they use software on the towers that limit us to normal GPRS speeds? Why would I get GPRS speeds in this region? Does GPRS really have speeds of this compatibility? I would like to hear if anything of this has happend to anyone else.:D

No, NetMeter has a bug if you disable or enable your LAN adapter while its active, you get that burst.

hmm, didnt logon or off any adapters... okay, well I know a connection between a phone and the PC (on that one in particular) is at a maximum of 4xxkbps.

A realistic bit rate for GPRS is 30–80 kbit/s. NetMeter must be receiving the extra speed from another adapter or incompatibility with some software you are running..

re max speeds - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPRS

Netmeter is useless when it comes to measureing upload and download SPEEDS. GPRS is 115.2K, in other words, theoretically, you shouldn't be able to download faster than about 14KB/sec.

what is wrong with the speed measure ability.

Well, netmeter sometimes tells me i'm downloading a file at 80KB/sec, when i'm really downloading at like 40. The speed measurements are extremely. More often that not, it tells me my maximum download has been 300KB/sec.
