Ok, so did a trip from home in Strandfontein to Century City, Milnerton.
Searched by voice and it chose the correct option.
Took under 2 minutes to locate me and then the fun began.
Actually first did a short trip to a friend's place in the neighbourhood to see how it would handle quick turns.
It rather failed - I was being placed on the map in the road adjacent to where I was, kept on re-routing me whenever I took turns which was on the route, but the satellites got me all wrong.
This however could be down to my cooked ROM and modem.
Anyway - onto the trip to work.
Accuracy improved, a helluva lot.
Directions were spot on, through it a bit of a curveball again by going slightly off route (a side road), it took less than 30 seconds to re-route and put me on my way.
During this trip to the office, the accuracy was much better.
It was spot on with where I was in association to side roads I was passing.
Even the sharp left and right that I took to go off route, was accurate.
So perhaps it needs more time to get a better fix - I don't know = more testing will let me know for sure.
Twas funny having the american lady giving turn-by-turn directions with all of the "weird" street names we have - at least she got Paarl right
One annoyance (which may be my fault as I've not figured it out yet) - while navigating, I can't find a way to "Stop" the route that I'm on and just have the software follow me around.
But then again - I suppose that's what normal Google Maps are there for.
Occie - I too have used SATNav with my BB Bold 9000 some time ago - heck a few months ago on my friend's curve - and it's damn accurate and fool proof.
Not as detailed as this Google Navigation, but at least it didn't put me in a pond when I was stationary at an intersection
I've just got to put this software through it's paces some more before I have a final verdict on it.
For now - I like it - I don't really ever have the biggest need for GPS and Navigation software, but we all know that it's fscking handy at times
