I'm looking at buying a GPS, have about R2500 budget. It need not be anything overly fancy. Compatibility/availability of overseas maps a plus. Not sure what I can get in this price range but is asking for speed camera warnings stretching it a bit? I have no knowledge of the GPS market.

Thanks!!

You can get a Garmin Nuvi 220 Wide for that price and have a little left over. All Garmins come with speed camera POI's.

The Garmin Nüvi range is definitely worth considering.
They are all Street Navigators, enabling you to travel from door to door.
All of them also support the Road Safety Data, which is updated weekly, and which can be downloaded for free.

If you buy the Nüvi 760, you also get an European mapset included in the deal. They cost about R4000-00 though.

A very good option is the Nüvi 205 and 215, which offer excellent value for money, and have the added ability of planning a route on your PC and then transfering the route to your GPS. They are more or less in the price range you are looking at.

never used the tom tom brand but there is a special on the TOMTOM ONE v3 at incredible connection, unit goes for R1199.95 (check out the hardware bargins thread)
