GPS Software - pls advise

Hi,
please can someone recommend a decent GPS software for the Samsung Jet.
i have googled around and they state Route 66 seems to be the best one but you have to buy maps Is there a freeware GPS software that i can look into or that you guys can recommend please.

I am a newbie when it comes to GPS on phones.I would essentially like software i can install to my phone and download the maps so i don't need to rely on gprs to assist with the routes .

Is there a generic gps sofware i can try aswell.
