GPSD Issue on Gs4

So glad someone has linked this to Cell C, I have tried everything to locate what is causing gpsd to kill my battery life with no luck.

Looks like I will just port my number, I can not take the Cell C experience anymore.

don't port to VC got the same problem :-)

Spoken to a number of other cellc users with galaxy S4 today, same issue the last few days. Is 2g really the only option, as I use my phone's internet connection quite often?

I'm on Vodacom only people I've seen not have this issue are Telkom and MTN :(

Confirmed, same as Lupus.

SG4 on Vodacom network, since Sunday gpsd has been using 40%+ of my battery.

To all the people having the GPSD issue, what S4 variant do you have? The Exynos 3G or Snapdragon LTE?
I had this on my S4 Exynos.

I think GPSD is a network side issue thats caused by a conflict between network and the Modem used in Exynos variants, this simply just doesn't seem to affect Snapdragon devices with their Qualcomm modems, very odd. Is there not 1 Galaxy S4 LTE user affected by GPSD?

I asked the same question the GS5 thread and 1 person said they had experienced the issue on an Exynos GS5, I'm going to Google a bit and see what more I find on this.

Im on Mtn (Afrihost) and this just hit me since yesterday. Restarted phone all location services off. Charged to full last night and slept, today right now i'm on 39%

/sigh

You will need to raise it with MTN it's an issue on their network. In the mean time you can set your phone to gsm only in mobile data. It sucks but it stops the battery drain

I am also on MTN and having the same issue now. Nothing works for me except switching to 2G. I am going to try and raise it with MTN, but if they will assist I don't know.
