I'm not a hardcore gamer and I'm really out of touch with all the latest developments. I bought myself two Dell P2417H monitors (general use and some personal photo editing with Lightroom) and now I need a GPU to drive them. [Edit:] I will be doing some light gaming though and need something with longivity

I preferably don't want to spend more than R4k.

I've ordered a Gigabyte GTX 1060 G1 3GB from Wootware for R3846, but it's on order with the supplier, and I'm now in doubts whether it was really the best choice.
They also have a Sapphire RX 580 for the same price.

I kindly need some advice wrt which GPU to get.

Thanks

Try push for the 6GB version of whatever card you are looking at (1060). They are marginally more powerful and some modern games push the boundaries of 3GB framebuffer cards

I have the XFX RX580 8GB and the wife the MSI RX580 8GB. Both are great cards and runs everything we can throw at it. Mind you, we only have 1080p monitors, so not really stressing them at this stage.

Thanks for the responses. I collected the 1060 yesterday. The guy at Wootware assured me it's a good choice, as I only have full hd screens. I suppose it doesn't help that I'm still running a i5-2500  I also only buy games on steam when they're on very good specials, which means a few year old normally.

I havee the i5-2400 and you'll be amazed how well MS DX12 titles like Forza 7 and GoW4 run on it.
