GPU make what to choose

Hi all
I have my choices for motherboard, CPU and ram now I need to choose a GPU that will work well for me (bear in mind I have a ps3) pc will be for older games and gta eflc with mods on at least medium settings and Portal 2 on high
from what I gather I need A DDR5 card with at least 512 mb to play on high settings(Portal 2)
Will be going with ati (amd phenom ii 955be will be my CPU)
Card wise im looking at +- R1500
but what make is good ?
Should I go with a cheaper 1GB ddr5 sapphire card or more expensive asus 512mb ddr5 for example ? or msi or club or or or ?

If I get a crossfire card will I see a difference if I Use the crossfire with the onboard HD4250 graphics ? (can be done apparently)

For R1500 your choices are significantly small.
At that range, the differences between the different cards are very small.

I'm not all too sure about your source on Crossfire with the onboard.
Crossfire/SLI doesnt work unless the cards are identical. At least, thats the technical requirements per manufacturer site...

Get a 6850. Preferably 1gig. Preferably Sapphire. You can only x-fire using the onboard with very weak cards. The onboard will be holding the 6850 back so it's not allowed.

+1 Sapphire HD6850. Or whatever's cheaper. MSI?

IIRC Wootware's VTX brand is very cheap.

Look at hardware bargain thread. Prophecy selling VTX brand 6850 for just under R1500...prolly so you dont end up with free shipping
Just comes in a bit cheaper then Wootware. Guess they bought at the right time when $$ is low
