My current build is as follows:

CPU: Core2Quad Q6600 - 2.4GHz
Mboard: MCP73VT-PM http://www.ascendtech.us/ecs-mcp73vt-pm-lga775-ddr2-motherboard_i_mbecs4mcp73vtpm.aspx
Ram: 4Gb
PSU: Coolermaster RS460 http://www.coolermaster.com/product/Detail_print/powersupply/office-home-extreme/extreme-power-plus-460w-120mm-fan.html
GPU: Nvidia 8600GT
Monitor: Viseo 191ws http://www.wsgf.org/monitor/packard-bell-viseo-191ws
HDD: 1x WD Blue 640GB
1x SG Barracuda 160GB
1x SG Barracuda 120GB

Ok so it's an old PC, but I'm looking for the best GPU that will run with this build as I want to get into BF4 online gaming. Ideally I want to only buy a gfx card without replacing anything else. I was looking at the R9 270X but it recommends a 500W psu minimum.

If I were you, I would rather save up enough fund to buy a new system because BF4 will run like **** even at the lowest setting on your current PC even with a new midrange GPU card. Trust me.

I agree, you can build a good budget PC and run all the latest games just save up.

Yup.

Just get the following parts if you truly want to play BF4 without experiencing excessive lags:

1. A cheap Intel Core i5 (Haswell) motherboard - Around R1K
2. The cheapest Intel Core i5 (Quad-core) CPU - Around R2K
3. A 4Gb RAM kit (Around R600)
4. Any Corsair/Coolermaster 500W PSU
6. Sapphire HD7770 (Around R1.5K)
