GPU Value Comparisons

as much i see.
all i am trying to do here, is get some specs/results of other cards out there that people are using on their machines with pricing(what they paid for it) for reasons being that should there be one that is 2-3k and at least 50% faster than mine, then i can get myself one.
i just dont trust reviews that much to make a choice based on that. having a few people run a card test and posting there results, much better in my opinion.

/facepalm
All that info is in the op. Its the whole point of this thread... Seriously, if the average results from 3 different sites are not enough for you, then how the heck are you going to trust 4 or 5 random people on a forum to give you an accurate result??

Dude I dont know what you are getting at, I'm really confused.

Even something that costs less than R1000 would beat your card. I know your card was good at the time, but believe me when I say, it is now outdated and slow. If you choose not to listen to advice then that is your problem.

I think you would struggle to find something 50% faster than your card. That is, you would struggle to find a card that is LESS than 100% faster than your card. Your card is that slow.

Okay, when I get home I will download Furmark 1.9.0. and run the benchmark.

I paid R2300ish for my card. If it scores 50% more than your score, then you will be happy?

Look dude, I'd upgrade my screen first. If you are still playing at 1024x768, and you are happy with the framerates, what do you stand to gain by upgrading?

i have a descent screen, as for frame rates, you do know that movies only run at between 23 and 27 fps, so if your game runs at 30 or more, you wouldnt even know.

would be interesting to see what the ATI does

Sigh....

1) A screen that is 1024x768 is not decent.
2) For first person shooters you want 60FPS. Thats just the way it is. You can and will notice of it drops below that. Other slower paced games you can get away with 30FPS.
3) And that card he gave you is an AMD card.

Movie framerates are too low nowadays, and you will see most of the time directors will avoid fast panning shots for that reason... They also use a form of interlacing/smearing/interpolation in fast scenes on film to reduce the stuttering between frames.

i know it is a AMD card, but it is powered by AMD, and it is a ATI card.
and i have the same screen as you, slightly bigger though

There is no such thing as ATI anymore, its an AMD card. There is only AMD and nvidia, no ATI.

If your screen res is 1024 by 768, then I doubt its the same.

Why are you so defensive about this? So your graphics card is dog slow by today's standards, so what?

i think you need to go back to school, this is just research for me, and if there is no such thing as ATI then why does AMD advertise them as ATI and not AMD?
and my screen is on 1024 because i dont want my icons the size of ants

What screen do you have Yodaspike?

Edit: Got it from Prophecy

Edit 2:

I run my screen at its native res of 1920 x 1080 and I can assure you that the icons are not the size of ants...

Probably the dumbest thing you can do with an LCD is run it at non-native resolution. It is also a very stupid solution to the icon size problem...

They dont, where do you see ATI? The ATI brand disappeared years ago.

buddy, dont come here looking for advice and then get arrogant. Trust me, I know far more than you, and thats no idle boast.
