Hi..

Was using an older version of Grabit no problem on my old PC, but now with my new PC using 1.6.2 beta the files get downloaded, the folders are created in the download directory, but there are no files there. Only stuff is showing in the cache dir, so data is being transferred.

Any ideas?

I had the same issues which is why I gave up on the whole idea...

A solution would be great.

I experienced this problem on two PCs that I installed Grabit on.

There is a solution and I found it on the Grabit forums.

You NEED to first update your newsgroups before doing anything. Grabit needs the newsgroup information to correctly sort the downloads (this was explained better by the author of the program on the forums, but I can't find the link right now).
The newsgroup download is around 3mb as far as I can remember and this is once off. This should solve your problem for future downloads.

If, however, you have existing files in your cache that you would like to retrieve (instead of starting a new download), you need another program to decode them. The files can be encoded in one of two formats (as far as I can remember). The most used encoding (yEnc) can be decoded by a program called yEnc32. Just open one of the cache files in Notepad and see if it says anything about yEnc. If not, you'll need to do some searching on the Grabit forums.

Good luck :)

Cheers for that, thought it might be something alone those lines..

Updating now.

Edit * yep, thats sorted it out.. :D

Oh so thats why it did that had the same issue the 1st time.. but then reset settings and restarted it and said update list so i did and other downloads worked :p

How is it that torrents are cracked down on as being piracy and the newsgroups aren't? Surely it isn't legal either is it?
