HI all

I am here once again to ask a question.

Is there any of you that useses grabit?

I need to know the settings for the IS news server so that I can download.


Tried the SAIX but not working but that could be because we are on the IS backbone connection.


Help would be appricated.

Guess:

IS = news.is.co.za
SAIX = news.saix.co.za

But, does your ISP specifically say that you have access to the news server?
 
But there is a problem even when I try connecting through windows mail I cannot connect to the news server which is weird because I am sure that Axxcess sat backbone is through IS please correct me if I am mistaken.
 
And I also get the same problem through the saix server

now this confuses me please help someone anyone why can I not connect to the news server for both our backbones here is south africa


is there some other news server that I can use perhaps? free one?
 
Once again : Does your ISP specifically say that you have access to the news server?
If your answer is no, then you will not have access.
 
Can a provider block all access to a news servers completely?

cos that would pretty much suck because it is the fastest way to download off the net
 
Call your ISP - who are you with? They should be able to provide you with details.
 
I am with axxcess on the R899 deal uncapped express via satalite does anyone know because it would be weird me saying to them cos I need to download files from news servers
 
I am not blocked just that IS routes through saix so I will not be able to connect to the IS news server.

Internet sucks here in south africa

when will they improve the service
 
Don't have the money to pay for it thats why I am looking for a free one.

not to worried about speeds anything about 20kb/s will be perfect for me cos that is what I get at the moment with torrents and also depends if other user is on

axxess uses the saix server - news.saix.co.za. IS won't work. News servers are not only used for p2p filesharing - it's a part of the service you paid for.
 
Ja, he should be able to use the IS server... but it is probably just overloaded.

He can get 10 Gigs free from a lot of the International News Servers also.

Giganews gives 10 Gigs free.... so does Astraweb.
