Any graduates looking for a way to get into an entry level job? It is for ALL graduates, not just previously disadvantaged groups.


ABSA GRADUATE PROGRAM
Paracon secured the project to recruit Graduates for the Absa Technology Graduate Programme for 2009. We are looking for all CV’s of candidates who will meet the following basic criteria and who would be interested of course:

• Must be under 25 years old on commencement of the Programme
• Must have a reasonable command of English (read, write and speech)
• Must have passed English at matric level as a minimum
• Graduates must possess one (or more) of the following from an approved SA education institution:
o BCom
o BscIT
o BEng (preferably Elec/Ind)
o BTech
o National Diploma IT
o Other degrees (will be considered)
o Degrees as above conferred outside SA will be considered
o Final year university students who are studying for the above

Please send whatever you have that you think will be suitable to [email protected] urgently.

Grads will be expected to go through pre-selection tests in order to be selected. Successful candidates will undergo about 6 months of full-time, paid training and if they pass that, will go on to being employed by Absa on a perm basis.

Should you have young family or friends who have completed Information Technology/Systems or related diplomas/degrees and are seeking employment opportunities within an IT environment, please forward an electronic copy of their CV to [email protected] by 21 November 2008 for consideration for the programme commencing in February 2009.

Absa staff who fulfil the requirements and wish to apply, must inform their line management immediately. Their applications will follow the same process as external graduates.

If the applicant has not received any feedback by 31 January 2009, the application should be considered as unsuccessful. Selection will be done in line with Absa Group employment policies

A lot of people mean well... but it against the T&C nevertheless.

Weird they recruiting more after their initial university drives earlier this yr.
 
Maybe they struck out earlier this year? Maybe more companies should start doing this. The way I see it is that after the initial phase you have the best of the best left and can then make you choice for employees. Since they are already integrated this eases the transition phase and as such are immediately productive.

All the big financial insititutions do something similar. You're right with regards the strike outs... it is a serious "challenge" to find IT graduates who are trainable and fit into the culture of the organisation. Unfortunately many graduates seem to think there's not much they can learn when starting in junior positions
 
I dont work for ABSA. I work with students in a tertiary institution and know how difficult it is for graduates to get their first opportunity. This is just to help those grads on myBB in some way.

If any of you have opportunities to help them out why dont you make them an offer?
