It does yes, but not as much damage as slugs or bullets do.

Reason for this is because depending on the type of buckshot ( different types have different sizes and weight of the buckshot ), the penetration isn't THAT horrible compared to the previous ammo types, though it does serious damage over a wide surface. You can call buckshot at close range "the ultimate in stopping power" :D

Gunshot are classified from normally Nr 3 to 9.

3 is buckshot. The pellets are slightly bigger than the head of a match.
It is called buckshot because you can shoot buck with it. Some people use it as a backup on lion.

The article does not state how far it was. I asume it was less than 20m. That thug is hurting badly. He will need medical help.

In the riot days the armed forces used no 9's called birdshot. Afrikaans: "Dons hael" which is effective on doves out to 35 meter.

Used against riff raff under 10m you will be killed, 20m you will need medical help and 30m you will remember me for a very long time.

LG is the largest *SHOT* -- you also get SOLID SLUGS with a sabot.

THESE are known as "buckshot" can be used for wild pig also
