Johannesburg - More arrests are expected in connection with a R3.5m North West social grant scam, the SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) said on Wednesday.

Three Sassa officials were arrested in Tshwane in February for creating ghost beneficiaries who received monthly payments through banks.

Two Sassa officials, in Madibeng and Rustenburg, were suspended on Monday in connection with the scam. They had yet to be arrested, said Sassa spokesperson Smanga Selemeni.

Sassa's special investigative unit had discovered that more officials were involved in the scam.

"The information gathered... suggests a possible collusion between the suspected officials and certain banks' officials," Selemeni said.

Criminal investigations were continuing and more arrests were expected by Friday

Wonder which ANC member will have it's fingers in this... oh wait we will not know or they will get a payed vacation compliments of the SA taxpayer.
