Hi all

Was hoping for some advice on a new graphics card. I'm looking to spend around R3000, but have no idea what is good in that price rantge. The last card I bought was the Nvidia 8800 gt, so am totally out of the loop regarding current cards. Any advice?

Thanks.

Paul

When are the new cards coming out? Next month?

If you have to buy today AMD 6950 or Nv GTX 570. They will handle most games on Max.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2.70 Ghz. I know. Not great.

Hahaha. You're gonna experience sever CPU bottleneck.

What power supply do you have?

You may have to rather get a 6870 and use the cash saved to get a power supply depending on what you have.

Aopen 240 w input, 450 w output power supply.

So, do you think I shouldn't even bother? Will the bottleneck be so severe that I won't get full specs from the graphics card?

Dude. You probably have a slight cpu bottleneck as it is. I say take that 3grand and get:

and

Then upgrade your cpu whenever.

What motherboard do you have?

What resolution do you game at?

I usually use native resolution on my syncmaster P2770 (1920X1080)

Motherboard is ASUS 690G-SB600-M2A-VM H-00

My recommendation stands. Get the PSU and GPU then upgrade your CPU when you get the chance.
