What is the best/recommended graphics card to use alongside a 450W power supply ?

Stronger power supplies can be pricey and I don't need the best graphics card out there...

Setup:

Phenom II
6GB DDR3
128SSD (OS and one or two games)
2x1 TB HD
NVIDIA Geforce 450 gts

The system is dated but still fairly snappy thanks to the SSD so I just want to improve gaming a bit

Does your power supply have a 6pin connector?

If it doesn't:

I'm guessing it's a really old PSU, so I think it would have lost a lot of "power" over the years due to ageing capacitors, if it was my money I would buy a new proper PSU and a second hand R9 270 or GTX 660.
