Graphics Card

Rather buy a XFX 8800GT 512MB Alpha Dogg XXX Edition - roughly costs around R2500 new overseas. Outperforms the 8800 ULTRA and GTX in certain instances.
 
Rumor has it that the new Nvidia cards are coming out next year Feburary. I also wanted to upgrade my gfx card now, but have decided to wait till next year. You'll only be mad if you bad that card now, and realise 3 months later that you made a mistake. Still its your choice and your money, I was just giving my opinion :)
 
Only the high end cards are coming February. Meaning those in the price bracket of R5000 - R7000. Midrange cards will only launch June.

If you are willing to wait and spend the cash on the high end cards wait for Feb else get an 8800 gt or that second hand 8800 gts.

Personally going to get a high end 9 series card.:)
 
The problem is I am a student and can barley scrape together the R2300 so to get a card that costs R5000 is never going to happen just dont ahve the money

Then get the 8800 gt it goes for plus minus R2500 but stock is limited . That would be the best option in your position.
 
There are GT's going for R2300(or thereabout). So would definately rather get the 8800GT which outperforms the GTS 640.
