I don't know if a warning has been posted before, but DO NOT open a "Free" account with these swines!

A couple of weeks ago a friend told me to look at their site as they offer texture downloads for photographs.

I went there, and they offer you a 7 day free trial period, and if you want to belong to them it will cost $99 per year.

I liked their stuff but there was nothing outstanding, so I downloaded a couple of the free textures that I liked, and then forgot all about it.

Today, I have just received notification that R 535 odd has just been taken off my card!!

Now, when you sign up, you are forced to put in your card details, as part of signing up - HOWEVER, it says that you are not to worry as you will not be billed until you make up your mind to stay.

Well that is BS as they take the money anyway!!

I Googled them just now, and the net is full of complaints about them doing this.

I am going to try and get my money back, but just be warned, unless you want to throw away $99 - don't even go to their bloody site!

so, staying past he free 7 day trial can't be considered as making up your mind and it's their fault that you forgot that you signed up?

Well, yes, but they could have just suspended the account and sent you a reminder email that you can activate your paid account any time by clicking on the included link ...

There is a big difference between what is legally correct, and what is socially acceptable.

If something is free, but they ask for credit card details. Just run and don't look back ever.

Generally I agree with you here, and would indeed run a mile, but you also need your card details for Amazon Prime's free trial. However, cancelled a day or so before the trial ended, and wasn't billed.

The way that I read it, and I may be wrong My Lady, They would Bill me and at that point I would decide whether to stay or not....

Unfortunately this is a common tactic to try and get people on board. Amazon and quite a few other big names do it for their subscription services.

Automatic Renewal. Your subscription will continue indefinitely until terminated in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. After your initial subscription period, and again after any subsequent subscription period, your subscription will automatically commence on the first day following the end of such period (each a “Renewal Commencement Date”) and continue for an additional equivalent period, at Company’s then current price for such subscription. You agree that your Account will be subject to this automatic renewal feature unless you cancel your subscription at any time prior to the Renewal Commencement Date by logging into your Account or calling us at (866) 788-9225. If you do not wish your Account to renew automatically, or if you want to change or terminate your subscription, please log in and go to the “Change/Cancel Membership” page on your “Account Settings” page. If you cancel your subscription, you may use your subscription until the end of your then-current subscription term; your subscription will not be renewed after your then-current term expires. However, you will not be eligible for a prorated refund of any portion of the subscription fee paid for the then-current subscription period. By subscribing, you authorize Company to charge your Payment Provider now, and again at the beginning of any subsequent subscription period. Upon renewal of your subscription, if Company does not receive payment from your Payment Provider, (i) you agree to pay all amounts due on your Account upon demand, and/or (ii) you agree that Company may either terminate or suspend your subscription and continue to attempt to charge your Payment Provider until payment is received (upon receipt of payment, your Account will be activated and for purposes of automatic renewal, your new subscription commitment period will begin as of the day payment was received.). We reserve the right to change the subscription fee for any renewal term to be effective upon the renewal of your subscription.

If a site requires any kind of payment information for a "free" trial, I stop right there and walk away...
