Grim Dawn

Level 12, enjoying it, just want the quests to be better managable ie "go here", "do that" would like an arrow pointing where i should be

That has its pros and cons, I like how you can explore and get to a part where the monster levels are in purple (run for the hills or DIE)

Must say I'm enjoying this game immensely.

I know that a large part of it is the sense of discovery - :o got all the way to Lvl 16 before figuring out how to use the special skills like Forcewave and also how to add gems/plating/etc to items. :o

Oddly, I find it a lot more compelling than PoE (and I tried) - I just never got into PoE, whereas this has me hooked pretty quickly.

Question of interest, how is the "click response" in combat?
I unfortunately compare everything to D3, in the sense that it feels more responsive than PoE, which I also was never able to get into. The devs behind Grim Dawn had me interested those years back when they first announced it :)

Feels very smooth and responsive to me - no issues with lag, stutter or delay. Also, it 'feels' like you're hitting stuff (if you know what I mean)

I just couldn't 'get into' PoE (nor Torchlight I/II for that matter) - this is different.

Edit: I do miss the ability to 'vault/dash' etc but then maybe I'm not a high enough level yet (Lvl 18) :o

Also, it's a deliciously frustrating deciding where to allocate your XP points since it limits what kind of equipment you can use

I will be playing soon.

Nice to play not slow at all.

Need some tactical advice in a broad sense.
Do and don'ts. You guys played a bit already. What to avoid etc.

Basically, pick a skill and centre your build around it. Focus all of your early levels into that skill exclusively. The biggest mistake I made with most early characters was putting a single point here and there into multiple skills. Primarily to try them out of course. But if you try something out, pay to remove the skill point once you are done and put it into your main skill.

At most you should have a single target dmg and an area damage skill. If you can get away with one that fits both quite nicely, then take that.

Admittedly I have not reached late game at all. I think the highest character I have ever made was level 23 many moons ago. My current is 19. Building a lightning jacks Demolition / Arcanist. My lightning jacks are almost maxed. I stopped maxing them only to control the mana cost when spamming, and because the damage was high enough to melt everything already. Once I get a bit more energy regen on gear, I will put the last few points into it.

Ok some more questions
What do you do with some of the ingredients like Corps Dust, Scavenge Plating or Frozen Heart. I also have others.

Do you always need to play through steam?
Are the updates coming from them?

I think I'm lvl 11 or 12.

Keep that stuff - they're like gems in diablo - you add them to weapons and armor.

You combine the 'partial components' to make a 'full one' eg - 3 Partial Cracked Lodestones combines into a Single Complete Lodestone that gives you a +4 Physique bonus plus the lightning skill.

Hello stupid question Blacksmith? They say act1 on forum.

Don't think I have done some repairs.

I dont think durability is a thing in GD. Is it?

Found the buggers, they are not far apart from each other. It is only a quest.
They don't do repairs like in Diablo.
They imbue items if you have scroll and items.

Thinking of getting this now that it's fully released(I think) just hope it's worth it... I'm guessing this is like Diablo 3 maybe, where you play for hours and hours and always come back?

I haven't yet gotten past the first difficulty, but I reckon it will have a fair degree of longevity.

I'm looking forward to giving it a proper go, for sure.

It's also only R240, you can't really go wrong there.

/necros thread

Picked this up earlier this week for R266 +R55 (Crucible DLC)

I repeated history with how I begun in TQ originally :o

"I want to make a caster"

/chooses Demolitionist

"Oh wow this game has guns"

"I wonder if I can build a pseudo-DH fire playstyle"

/picks up 2h blue axe (massive damage upgrade)

"Guess I'll play melee"

I think my first 2 play-throughs (Normal + Veteran) will be a wild mad ride constantly switching gear around the best weapon I've get
