I was previously on 5G premium and was pretty pleased with how it was working. 300-400 Mbps down, 30-50 Mbps up. For a number of months I watched this slide down with the uplink occasionally causing the link to tank hard. A couple of months ago I downgraded to Standard because premium was definitely not a premium experience.

I had an indoor unit swapped out for an outdoor despite me stating I would not mount it outdoors, I've been told to move the router, obviously, which I have tried onlty to return it to the usual peak performing spot. I've been told the tower I connect isn't over utlised but I don't buy this. A speedtest at 4am will nab me 367Mbps down / 60Mbps up only for it to fall to 150Mbps / 2~10Mbps during the day. Uplink is flaky and sensitive too which will flatline the link at the drop of a hat some days... but wait til the wee hours... Speed is back with the very same signal stats.

Getting rather tired of the slow but persistent degradation, tired of the queries dropped if you don't push and tired of not having many other viable options.

Hate posting stuff like this but the unofficial way of getting support from Rain is the best / only way of getting help.

P.S. I would happily go back to premium if the uplink in particular was better just to get away from the disgusting, almost childlike shaping policies.

HI @evilspinach

Please provide me with your email via PM, that is linked to the rain profile.

@evilspinach make another post and title it something that will grab thir attention.

I titled mine, 'Rain is USELESS' and have received assistance

i am in the very same situation as yours....i have moved my router to every inch of my house as they told me to do but no luck. i get very good speeds early mornings when everyone is asleep from the very same position that drops during the day. its been two months now being dragged by rain...are thr any alternatives available? @Rain_mobile

Hi @pokias I have received your PM

Technicians were out earlier this week, good guys, easy to talk to (thanks for arranging rain_mobile). They also leaned toward tower congestion. Yesterday was a prime example...

6:00am - 330Mbps down - 47Mbps up
7:30pm - 60 Mbps down - 4Mbps up - but on top of that, shaping seems to get more agressive. Something with low demand such as a 480p youtube video buffered a few more grey hairs onto my head.

Signal stats were the same as 6am, and same as they are right now. Right now speed are - 165 down, 13 up.

Nothing concrete from Rain since the 10th of May. In the interim, I have moved back to premium to evade what seems overly aggresive shaping in peak times and actively looking at alternates (fibre not an option).

I've been on Rains 5G since launch, I've been mostly lucky with it. Since October last year that luck has been drying out and Rain's inability to provide concrete solutions is what will drive me away (whether that's due to Rains lack of willingness, arrogance at senior levels or a technical deficiency is debateable).

Umm... Decline is speeding up...

At least your ping is on the lower 30s, mine is at lowest 70, all the way up to 200, and that's local, we won't even speak about international...

Yip :(
And its the so-called "5G Premium"...
Also had it since around launch, but was the Black Friday special... Back then was perfect...
Degraded since...
Maybe you moved the router ?

I mean we do move things around the house when we want a fresh look …

After the initial assistance, it seemed as if Rain just want to sweep issues under the rug again. I cancelled my 5G and moved to Telkom's 2TB month to month on Friday after I lost service completely (outage still affecting others up to yesterday).

I have stable, predictable speeds now, down and up... feels weird :)
Not weird its normal :)

Been on Telkom LTE for 6 years now and it just gets better get an antenna proper aggregation router and you can expect this 24/7

I've got my old B525-65a from a previous Telkom LTE contract (which was reliable). It's been doing rather well. 70 down, 23 up on average which is great for work. Keeping an eye out for used 618-65d's for a bit of extra downlink, hopefully. What router are you running @Snyper564?

Rain has been silent, on the other hand... Retention ticket ignored etc etc...
