Hi Guys

I am not sure whether to go with the nexus 4 or gs4...
I could get the gs 4 on contract or buy the nexus 4 and then take out a contract without a phone.

Taking all things into account I will save around R1500 over the 2 year contract with the nexus 4. Also I could take a month on month deal and change when or if prices drop.

Is the gs4 worth the extra money?

(its not much considering TVM I guess)

S4 is packed with extra (useless IMO) gimmicks. It does have a significatly better screen and camera though.

Got a Nexus 4 myself, love it. Pure Android, no BS bloatware, excellent performance. Would recommend.

The Nexus 4 is nice, but it's roughly on par with the S3. It has 2GB of RAM which is a nice bonus, but a major drawback is the lack of a memory card slot - WTF?

No, it isn't... it's on par with the Xperia Z and Galaxy Note 2. It's above the S3.

Google discourages the use of an external SD card for stock Android. Not a bad idea- Apple have gotten away with it for years.

OP- if the fixed storage amount isn't a problem, get a Nexus 4- it will always have the latest version of Android, straight from Google, the custom ROM support is phenomenal, and the device itself is very well specced for the price. And you already mentioned that it will save you some cash.

I would only recommend the S4 over the Nexus if you are interested in all the additional Touchwiz features, and that you feel you must have a 1080p screen. In my experience, there is a difference in screen quality, but it is not as huge as some would have you think. When I still owned my Note 2, there was a difference in screen quality between it and the S4, but a custom ROM later and the difference was negligible.
