GT5: The Countdown Begins!

"Gone gold" means that the gold "master" CD has been delivered to manufacturing (the CD may or may not actually be gold. The term derived from the fact that CD-R media used to be gold colored. "Gone green", "Gone blue", or "Gone silver" just doesn't have the same feel as "Gone gold"). This is the CD from which all shipping CDs are pressed (shipping CDs are pressed, not burned like the master CD). Depending on the manufacturing run, a game that has "gone gold" may ship to stores in as little as a few days or as late as a few months.

You may also see "RTM", an acronym for "Released To Manufacturing". It means the same thing as "gone gold". "Gone gold" is usually used for games, while "RTM" is usually used for applications. For web sites, you may see "RTW", an acronym for "Released To the Web", as a similar statement to "RTM" or "Gone Gold"

In little over a month we're all going to be racing go karts on our custom tracks... Die November die!

To think when this thread started today would've been D-day, the gaming community would've been celebrating the release of probably the greatest driving game of our time, but alas we still keep waiting and waiting......and waiting............

Funny thing is i don't even own a PS3!

Fear not, there'll probably be awesome Gran Turismo bundles when the game comes out. And the best time to buy a console is the holiday season.

 Thats so true!

If this game isn't at least 3 times what Forza 3 is, then it's an absolute failure. Just look at the ridiculous development time. Hell, I would rather have Half-Life 3. If you disagree on this, you are not supposed to be playing games, simple as that.

Cheers.

On paper it seems like more than 3 times tha game Forza 3 is, but we can only wait to see how the game actually plays.

Go-Karting
Course creator
WRC
Weather effects
NASCAR
Super GT
Best track selection ever (incl. Top Gear's test track)
1000 vehicles
16 player multiplayer

It's hard to argue with all that. As long as the racing is the best in the genre, the crowd isn't bloody cardboard cut-outs like in the one preview vid and RUF is in the game to make up for the absence of Porsche, then GT5 should be the game of the year everyone is hoping it will be.

Can't wait for my GT5 wallet and keychain, and SLS model on my desk :) That Apex car guide looks awesome too.

But yeah, if GT5 isn't the best racing game ever made it'll be an epic fail.

Just to add to what Bryan26 said.

If anybody has been following the development of GT5 and seen for example the Gran Turismo TV Racing at the 24h of Nurburgring videos you would understand that GT5 is more than just a game.

All the technical achievments and content that GT5 seem to have dwarfs in comparison to the love and passion Kazunori Yamauchi and his team have and show for the automobile.

As a car and motoring enthusiast myself I instantly recognize this.

And because of this GT5 is a winner no matter what it achieves or not according to general gaming standards.

Heard its going to support a 3D mode too, which could be fun for all of us in the future as we start getting 3D tvs (not necessarily by choice but because the manufacturers stick 3D in them)

I just need it.. like now. I wan't it so bad. How is it possible to have so much content in 1 game? Really?
